Flooding represents a crucial challenge now and into the future as the impacts of climate change become apparent. Having a strategic overview of all sources of flooding, the Environment Agency has a key role in shaping our response to this challenge.
Working as a Flood and Coastal Risk Management Officer in the Partnerships and Strategic Overview Team, you will be working at the very heart of this organisation, helping to protect people and property from flooding. We are a statutory consultee in the planning process and seek to ensure development is located in the most suitable location when considering flood risk and the predicted impacts of climate change. Working closely with your own and other teams, you can expect to be involved in working with flood risk data to aid our planning responses, influencing strategic planning proposals outlined in local plans, and evaluating flood risk assessments. You will also support our work in assessing flood risk activity permit applications and determining their impact on flood risk.
- The ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team to make decisions and achieve planned outcomes
- The ability to develop and maintain good relationships with customers
- Good organisational, and MS Office skills
- Excellent communication skills
