Job Description:

We’re recruiting for two new Team members to join us as Animal Care Assistants at our Southridge Animal Centre in Potters Bar to provide outstanding care for all animals in the centre, establishing good customer relations and maintaining administration and health and safety procedures.

Job Responsibilities:

• Communicating with members of the public, representing the RSPCA positively and professionally at all times – it’s always important for us to raise the profile of our amazing work at every opportunity
• Working as part of a team with staff and volunteers – we love team members who are prepared to roll their sleeves up and pitch in – even if that means making a round of tea for your colleagues!
• Completing all relevant animal paperwork and updating the Centres computer data base for all animals held on site
• Preparing and providing food and water for all animals in the establishment – no request for gourmet cooking, your audience will always be happy to see the meals you have lovingly prepared
• Attending to the needs of the individual animals including providing exercise/socialisation and grooming for all animals within the care of the centre
• Performing regular health checks on all animals and giving medical treatments as prescribed by the centres consulting Veterinary Surgeon

Job Requirements:

• It is essential to have experience of working with and handling domestic animals to be considered for this role
• Good customer care skills – showing kindness and understanding at all times
• For insurance purposes as you will be required to drive our fleet van for animal collections and vet visits it is a requirement to have held a full UK driving licence for a minimum period of 2 years
• Animal Care qualifications are desirable but not a deal breaker
• Ideally you’ll have experience working with domestic animals in a kennel and cattery setting
• Great communication skills, a positive attitude and enjoy working as part of a team
